Module Description:
This module introduces students to the issues of sustainability and how these impact on the world of business. The course will examine the various international agreements and organisations that influence the relationships between business and sustainability. It will also examine the most important issues such as corporate social responsibility, the triple bottom line, eco-entrepreneurship and a range of strategic tools used by business in moving towards sustainability.

Learning Objectives:
1) to develop in-depth understanding of the main issues of sustainablility and their relationship to the world of business.
2) to appreciate the historic international frameworks and agreements that influence the issues in sustainability and interpret their significance.
3) to discuss and debate the main topics and issues concerning corporate social responsibility and the business environment.
4) to describe and analyse the various tools used by business in moving towards a more sustainable future.
5) to develop critical understanding of the issues facing eco-entrepreneurs in setting up a 'green' business.
6) to present an assignment or case study that comprehensively addresses key issues for a topic in sustainable business.

In place of a single textbook, we list extensive readings relating to each topic. Students are required to read these. In the exam, marks will be earned by students who demonstrate evidence of having read these and other material outside of class.
