We need to produce a resource of various blogging and portfolio site services. Last year people found services I had never seen before.

Introduction:

You look at a hundred images online every day. What does it mean to view images via the web? How do you interpret their context when you see a picture on a website, compared with printed in a book or a magazine?

It is easy to make images available for public viewing on the internet. You can put pictures up on Facebook or Flickr in five minutes. So why bother spending a semester in a class on the subject?

How images are presented is critical to how the viewer interprets them. We will spend more time discussing the meanings that are generated through various types of presentation. Connotative and denotative, if you recall.

So the 'look and feel' of a site is important, but so is the structure of how you organise the information. What links will you use to lead people through your pictures? How do you make the structure clear and coherent?

User testing is a critical part of web development. You will use your classmates as the initial testing audience. Be prepared to present your images and ideas to the group and to offer constructive critque. ?
